As ForUm has earlier reported, on June 4 2008, tramadol was officially defined as a narcotic drug, and it is liable to more strict control according to the Law of Ukraine “About narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors”.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs began the inspection of legal persons which carry out business connected with its production and distribution, reported first deputy of the MIA department on the illegal circulation of narcotics, Oleh Shutyak.
Shutyak said the department has already found two commercial organizations which purchased and then put into illegal circulation more than 10 million dose of tramadol this year. On this matter the head of the MIA investigation department has instituted proceedings against the organizations. The drugs were purchased on the plant in Vyshneve (Kyiv region ed.), later more than 2.6 million dose of tramadol were sealed there. There were also more than 3 million tons of substances for its production, as Liga reports.
