Meeting of Party of Regions’ leader, Viktor Yanukovych with Chairman of the State Duma of Russia, Boris Gryzlov was held. The Party of Regions’ press service reports.

During the meeting the sides discussed the relations between Ukraine and Russia.

Boris Gryzlov, commenting on the address of the State Duma to the President and the government of the Russian Federation, emphasized that “processes which are taking place in Ukraine, in particular, speeding-up of attempts of Ukraine to join NATO without taking into account opinions of citizens of Ukraine, cause serious anxiety of members of the State Duma”.

Viktor Yanukovych in his turn stated that Ukraine always took into account position of Russia in such sensible questions as joining NATO and the Black Sea fleet location. The decision of the all-Ukrainian referendum can become the only reason of Ukraine’s joining NATO.

Viktor Yanukovych also agreed that it was unreasonably from the side of Kyiv to raise unilaterally a question on the Black Sea fleet location on the territory of Ukraine.

The sides agreed on necessity of more close cooperation of the “United Russia” party and the Party of Regions for the purpose of mutually beneficial development of relations of both countries.
