President Yushchenko held talks with President Adamkus

President Viktor Yushchenko held talks with President Valdas Adamkus. President's press office reports.

 

The two Presidents discussed development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Lithuania in economic, political, humanitarian fields.

 

Discussing Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations with President Adamkus, President Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine highly appreciates Lithuania’s support in this question and expressed gratitude to Lithuanian side for its firm favorable position regarding Ukraine during NATO Bucharest Summit. Separately Viktor Yushchenko thanked Valdas Adamkus for rendering assistance in adopting by Vilnius local government the decision on placing a monument to Taras Shevchenko in the center of the city.

Besides, the Presidents signed a Joint Declarations of the Heads of States. The Declaration stresses that close ties between Ukraine and Lithuania have reached strategic partnership level.
