President Viktor Yushchenko wrote letters to the Prosecutor General Oleksander Medvedko and to Internal Minister Yuriy Lutsenko drawing their attention to increasing number of cases of xenophobia, racial and national intolerance reported by national mass media. President's press office reports. 

Giving examples of such cases in his letters, President requested the abovementioned officials to initiate working out in their offices a set of measures aimed at counteracting racial intolerance and xenophobia.

“I ask you to instruct within your terms of reference corresponding bodies of the Office of the Prosecutor General to analyze tendencies with the cases mentioned including the influence on the situation by radical organizations from outside of Ukraine and to work out an effective program of counteraction to all forms of xenophobia, racial and national intolerance in Ukraine as well as to institute criminal proceedings against those guilty of the abovementioned crimes,” President Yushchenko wrote in his letter to the Prosecutor General.

From Internal Minister President expects a complex analysis of the situation as well as working out a set of measures of rapid reaction on such cases, their investigation and solving. According to him there is also a set of preventive measures needed combined with educational and explanatory work with the youth
