Yulia Tymoshenko believes that it is expedient to speed up amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine aimed at balancing authorities between branched of power. She announced this in the course of holding “An hour of questions to the Government” in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Cabinet's press service reports.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that it is necessary to establish promptly a special constitutional commission in the Verkhovna Rada which would adjust the proposals of factions and prepare the coordinated version of amendments to the Constitution ensuring stability, peace and development in the country. “If we fail to do it then it may be assumed as the Parliament did not perform its function,” the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government noted that, in accordance with the current edition of Constitution, the division of functions between the branches of power, in particular, between the presidential and executive is completely disbalanced. “Today, unfortunately, we have three governments but not one: Cabinet of Ministers, NSDC, Presidential Secretariat. As practically all executive functions have two or three commissions which contradict to each other,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted. According to her, today we must proceed to making conscious and coordinated changes to the Constitution strengthening the democratic coalition at that.

“If we fail to do it – the power will be shaken irrespective of the fact who will be in control and who in opposition,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine thinks.

Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko disproved reproaches on her allegedly disrespectful expressions addressed to the President. “I am always supportive to the President, strengthening his power and our team will never swerve from the configuration of democratic coalition,” she said.
