An enhanced dialogue on the prospects of Ukraine's economic cooperation with the EU on the expert level will promote European integration, Deputy Economics Minister Valeriy Pyatnytskyi told a forum named "Free Trade Zone: Towards Success of the European Project of Ukraine" in Kyiv.

"Ukraine has membership claims, so we may fulfill necessary reforms successfully and quickly. We want to be not just a good neighbor of the EU, but the EU member. There is no other alternative," the official stressed.

According to leading senior research fellow of the Center for European Policy Studies Michael Emerson, the free trade zone is an essential preparation stage for Ukraine's integration with the EU, and it will also help to harmonize the Ukrainian legislation with the EU standards.
