President Yushchenko met in Tripoli with the Ukrainian community of Libya. The event was arranged at Ukrainian Embassy to Libya. President's press office reports. 

The Ukrainians living in Libya asked Viktor Yushchenko about cultural development of Ukraine, the country’s language policy, perspectives of Ukraine joining NATO, etc. To the question about possibility of opening Ukrainian school in Tripoli President responded that although there are no legal grounds regulating the question of financing national schools abroad, the issue is topical and not only in case with Libya.

President Yushchenko also attended Andriy Pervozvanny Church of Ukrainian Orthodox Church located on the territory of the Embassy. He noted the tolerant attitude of Muslim Libya towards other religions. “It is very important that one can go to an orthodox church on African continent. It is a great respect towards our religion demonstrated by this country,” Viktor Yushchenko said.
