NATO approach to the Russian borders will be considered as direct threat to the RF safety. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a press conference after the Russia-NATO council meeting in Bucharest on Friday.
“The continuing NATO extension, formation of military infrastructure on the territory of new members, the crisis around CFE, Kosovo, plans of placement of US elements in Europe – all these do not work for strengthening of predictability and trust in our cooperation, and do not assist the transfer to new quality,” Putin emphasized.
“The appearance on our borders of strong military bloc, the actions of which are regulated by the article 5 of Washington treaty, will be considered in Russia as the direct threat to the safety of our country,” the Russian President said.
