Completion of judicial reform will be important for strengthening of trust to the country. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis said that in scope of the meeting with Justice Minister of Ukraine Mykola Onishchuk yesterday in Kyiv, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

Terry Davis noted on slow advancement of Ukraine on the way to reformation of judicial system.

According to Onishchuk, one of the reasons of slowdown of judicial reform in the country was parliamentary crisis last year. In particular, draft bills “On Judicial system in Ukraine” and “On status of judges” are still not adopted in the parliament.

At the same time, Onishchuk assured Secretary General that judicial reform remains one of the most important priorities of state policy. The above-mentioned draft bills are expected to be submitted to voting in the near future.

Moreover, important constituent of reformation of justice is development of procedural legislation. Now the Criminal-procedure code of Ukraine is being completed.

In scope of the meeting, the Minister also noted that reformation of the judicial system is political will of the President and is one of the most important duties of the coalition.
