Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk considers Ukraine’s joining NATO Membership Action Plan at Bucharest summit in April as untimely. He stated in an interview with the newspaper “Izvestiya”.

Yatsenyuk considers that if the decision on Membership Action Plan is taken now, “it will be like NATO throwing down the gauntlet to Russia”.

According to Yatsenyuk, time for Ukraine will come at the next summit, and Ukraine will be able to become the real NATO member only in 10 years.

“Answering the question what the Alliance will become and whether the alternative systems of the Euro Atlantic safety appear, I think that they will appear and Ukraine will participate in them,” Yatsenyuk said.

Commenting on the future visit of the US President George Bush to Ukraine, Yatsenyuk has noted that this is very good signal to the international community. “This is the first visit of US President to Ukraine for the last 8 years,” he noted.
