Yesterday President Viktor Yushchenko met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gediminas Kirkilas, president's press office reported.

During the meeting parties discussed bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania. President Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine is highly interested in development of cooperation with Lithuania, particularly in energy field, and expressed expectancies that Lithuania would be represented on Kyiv Energy Summit in May 2008 on the highest level.

V. Yushchenko and G. Kirkilas also discussed cooperation in Ukraine’s realization of its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Lithuanian Prime Minister sad: “I sincerely believe in success of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union”. In turn President Yushchenko expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian side for showing constant support to Ukraine on its path to European and Euro-Atlantic structures. He also asked G. Kirkilas to convey his gratitude to the President of Lithuania for an invitation to visit Lithuania with an official visit.
