President Viktor Yushchenko held a meeting today with Zakarpattya Regional Administration head Oleh Gavashi, president's press office reported.
During the meeting O. Gavashi informed V. Yushchenko on state of affairs with economic, social and development in the region. President from his part drew attention of Administration head to urgent issues in the region. Among these issues he named increasing salary debts, decreasing volumes of foreign investments, slow pace of land-survey preparation, etc.
Separately V. Yushchenko dwelled on topical issues with Zakarpattya’s preparation to EURO 2012 including improvement of transport infrastructure, ensuring proper functioning of border checkpoints, and appropriate border equipment.
Among the priorities for the region, named by President, also were implementation of digital TV and radio broadcasting as well as modern transport and logistic technologies. Promotion of Ukrainian language learning in Zakarpattya national minorities schools was named by V. Yushchenko as urgent as well.
