President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko assures that there will be no nuclear recourses on the territory of Ukraine. He stated in an interview on the TV channel “Inter” on Sunday.

“I want to remind everybody: the Ukrainian Constitution prohibits military bases of any county or the bloc of countries on the territory of Ukraine,” Yushchenko noted.
The President reminds that Ukraine more than 10 years ago has written the treaty according to which there will be no nuclear recourses on its territory.

Yushchenko has noted that he feels understanding from the Russian side in the discussion of the NATO question. “First of all, this is a dialog. And I was glad that one of the conclusions of the dialog was that Russia confessed the right of Ukraine to model own policy of safety. It is very important,” the head of the State emphasized.

As a reminder, on February 12 at the press conference in Moscow President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin confirmed fears of Russia concerning possible Ukraine’s joining NATO, although, he stated that this was the sovereign right of Ukraine.

Putin emphasized that Russia had no right to interfere in the inner situation of Ukraine, but at the same time it paid attention of Ukraine that such restrictions of the sovereignty led to definite consequences.

“It's frightening not just to talk about this, but even to think about, that in response to such deployment, the possibility of such deployments - and one can't theoretically exclude these deployments - that Russia will have to point its warheads at Ukrainian territory," Putin said.
