President Viktor Yushchenko took part in flowers laying ceremony near the monument “To the Kruty Heroes”. The President also honored those killed in the battle near Kruty with a moment of silence, president's press office reported.

Other participants of the ceremony were Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunyk, Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov, deputy Chief of Staff of President’s Secretariat Roman Bezsmertnyy, acting Security Service Head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, deputies Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Ruslan Knyazevych, Ivan Plushch and others.

The Battle of Kruty was a battle which took place on January 29, 1918, near Kruty, a small railway connection about 130 kilometres northeast of Kyiv, Ukraine, which was at the time the Nizhyn Uyezd, Chernigov Governorate.
