The Party of Regions will stand for its position in relation to NATO. Head of the opposition government Viktor Yanukovych stated at the sitting of this government.
He reminded that the Party of Regions had given assessment to the letter of the leadership of the State to the General Secretary of NATO.
In connection with this Yanukovych has noted that the government will demand that “the authority to act transparent and openly”. According to him, such decision must not be taken single-handed.
According to Yanukovych, first of all the question must be considered at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which can charge the PM to sign such letters. The Verkhovna Rada must act correspondingly. That means that the decision must be approved by the majority of the People’s deputies and only then the chairman of the parliament will be authorized to sign such letter.
Besides, Yanukovych has noted the Ukrainian people must decide the question on NATO.
