Setting up the Ukrainian-Canadian center in Luhansk 15 years ago was a historical breakthrough, participants in the press conference at the Luhansk Regional Press Center, dedicated to marking the 15th anniversary of the center's establishment, opined. The center was set up in 19923 on an initiative of the Ukrainian Diaspora of Toronto. The center was devoted to the 75th anniversary of declaring the 4th universal of independence of the Ukrainian People's Republic at the 74th anniversary of the Union of Ukrainian People's Republic and West-Ukrainian People's Republic. The Ukrainian-Canadian parties have signed the relevant agreement on January 23, 1993, Cabinet press service reported.

The center was the first one, established in Ukraine and we achieved a breakthrough, which seemed to be impossible. The center has collected books for Ukrainians, teachers and students so they can learn the truth about Ukraine's history.

The center boasts an impressible library and a number of clubs of interest. Head of the Luhansk Regional Organization "Prosvita" Volodymyr Semystiaha stressed that Ukraine runs 14 centers, yet, the Luhansk one is the oldest and the best one. Services of the Luhansk-based "Renaissance" fund are provided to students of the Luhansk region, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Simferopol, Ivano- Frankivsk, and Dnipropetrovsk region.
