On Friday the work of the VRU was broken. VRU chairman Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that today at the briefing, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
According to Yatsenyuk, today agreement on provision of work of main legislative body, reached yesterday at conciliatory meeting, was broken.
As to the letter to Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer NATO Secretary General concerning Ukraine’s joining Action plan on membership in NATO, the matter concerns “law on basis of national security of Ukraine” which was adopted by representatives of all political forces and also VRU resolution which defined activity of Ukraine with NATO and defined equal membership in this organization. Yatsenyuk noted that he, following the Constitution, confirmed wish of People’s deputies.
Yatsenyuk also noted necessity of holding national referendum concerning Ukraine’s joining NATO was noted in the letter. “Joining Action plan is nothing more but just enhanced and intensified dialogue with the Alliance. It will take much time for Ukraine to become member of NATO,” he said.
Yatsenyuk stated that he does not see the topic for discussion. He expressed hope that next week political forces would come to consent.
