Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has stated that there are no legal bases to cancel his signature under the letter concerning Ukraine’s joining Action Plan on membership in NATO. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

Yatsenyuk has emphasized that he “acted, acts and will act” according to the Constitution of Ukraine.

He has reminded that according to the main law, the speaker represents the parliament at the international level and he has added that he can’t sign documents, which were not agreed with the People’s deputies.

Speaker noted that in 2003 the law of Ukraine on bases of the national defense was approved and this law determined membership in NATO.

Yatsenyuk informed that the SDPU (member of which Nestor Shufrych was in that time) voted for this law too. Speaker stated: “Nestor Shufrych has misunderstood something”.

As a reminder, People’s deputy from Party of Regions Nestor Shufrych demanded chairman of the VRU Arseniy Yatsenyuk to withdraw a letter concerning Ukraine’s joining Action plan on membership in NATO, which he had signed.
