Today President Viktor Yushchenko took part in flower laying ceremony near memorial to Vyacheslav Chornovil in Kyiv. President’s press office reports.
Vyacheslav Chornovil’s wife Atena Pashko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, First Vice Prime Minister Olexander Turchynov, Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunyk, Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Ohryzko, Minister of Defense Yuriy Yekhanurov, Minister of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko, other officials participated in the ceremony too.
The arraignments are conducted in commemoration of Vyacheslav Chornovil’s 70th birthday. Vyacheslav Chornovil was a Ukrainian politician. A prominent Ukrainian dissident to Soviet policies, he was arrested multiple times in the 1960s and 1970s for his political views. A long-time advocate of Ukrainian independence, he was one of the most prominent political figures of the 1990s in newly independent Ukraine.
