Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin is sure that the open letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, and also the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Russian about oppression of the Russian language in Ukraine will not have influence on the relations between business structures of two countries. He stated on Thursday in Kyiv at the sitting of the Council of the Russian strategic investors in Ukraine.

According to Chernomyrdin, “it will have influence on people in Ukraine, for whom the Russian language in the native language and it will have no influence on the interstate business relations – we worked, we are working, and we will work.”

As earlier reported, on December 18, Putin sent a letter to Yushchenko in which he stated that there were essential controversies in the bilateral relations between two countries because of the position of Ukraine.

On December 14 the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation made statement where it expressed anxiety concerning the “anti-Russian manifestations” in Ukraine.
