On December 14 President Viktor Yushchenko took part in flower laying ceremonies near memorials “To Warriors of Chernobyl” and “To Heroes of Chernobyl” which were held on the occasion of the Day of honoring liquidators of Chernobyl disaster, President’s press office reports.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, President’s Chief of Staff Viktor Baloha, Chairman of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Vira Ulyanchenko, Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and other officials were also present at the arraignments.

In his address President rendered homage to those brave men who died saving their native land and humanity from terrible consequences of Chernobyl disaster. “We will eternally keep in our hearts blessed memory of the 20th century nuclear apocalypse victims. Chornobyl will never become a thing of the past for us,” he said.

President promised that he will demand of the new government the effective plan of social support for Chornobyl disaster liquidators.
