Representatives of the NATO head quarter welcomed the continuation of Ukrainian coalition course for the Euro Atlantic integration. NATO General SecretaryJaap de Hoop Sheffer stated after the sitting of Ukraine NATO committee at the level of the Foreign Ministers.

Sheffer has noted that in the coalition agreement, signed by the Ukrainian political forces, “it is said which way Ukraine intends to go, namely, in direction of the Euro Atlantic integration.”

At the same time, according to the NATO General Secretary, “it is impossible to tell now the exact terms when Ukraine will be able to join the organization.” “This process is not attached to any exact dates. It is impossible to tell that there will be a meeting or a summit where the corresponding decision will be taken. This process depends on how Ukraine will implement reforms,” Sheffer said.

According to him, the head quarter waits for the appointment of new head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine so that to be sure in intentions of Kyiv. “And then we will be speak about further development of relations during the sitting of heads of the states Ukraine-NATO within the framework of the summit in Bucharest which will take place in April 2008,” he said.
