Memorial plate was opened in Sevastopil to commemorate victims of Holodomor

Memorial plate in commemoration of victims of Holodomor was opened for the first time on the territory of Crimea.

The right to open the plate, which is attached to the Ukrainian culture and information center, was given to Chairman of the Sevastopil city state administration Serhiy Kunitsyn and commander of the Naval forces of Ukraine vice-admiral Ihor Tenyukh.

Kunitsyn has emphasized in his speech that the fact of Holodomor was suppressed for the long period of time, because it was inconvenient for the official history. According to him, “the society must realize not only the material and human losses, but also social, demographic and moral-ethic consequences of Holodomor.”
