It is necessary to express condolences to victims of the Holodomor but not to time this event to definite dates, the Russian Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin said that yesterday.
This year in Ukraine Day of memory to victims of the Holodomor is marked on November 24.
“There are only emotions, we do not understand such attitude. Some dates are marked instead of expressing condolences,” Chernomyrdin said.
He noted that official position of Russian was” the Holodomor has been”. Chernomyrdin noted that during that time Ukrainians, Russian, Tatars, Jews and other nationalities had suffered.
We need to remember everybody who suffered,” he said.
He informed that his relatives also have suffered from famine. They died, there was nobody to bury them. But nobody spoke, there was nobody to be blamed for,” he concluded.
As a reminder, Ukraine calls International community to recognize the Holodomor 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. 11 countries have done it already.
