President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Poettering, calls to remember about Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933.

“Today we know that famine, known as Holodomor, in reality was a terrible crime against humanity,” the statement says.

The president of the European parliament reminds that the famine, which took lives of 4-6 million of  Ukrainians in winter 1932-1933, was cynically and cruelly planned by Stalin’ s regime on a purpose to hold the policy of collectivization against the will of rural people of Ukraine.

“Only in 1991, when Ukraine re-established its independence, people could know about political reasons of this tragic period in their history,” the president of the European parliament emphasized.

Every fourth Saturday of November Ukraine will commemorate the memory of Holodomor victims.
