President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is convinced that ecology catastrophe in Kerch channel proved necessity to conclude agreements between Ukraine and Russia concerning ecology security of Kerch channel. He said that today in an interview in Jerusalem.
Yushchenko noted that as soon as catastrophe had happened he charged Prime Minister Yanukovych to hold urgent meetings with Russian side to discuss reasons on the state level.
According to Yushchenko, catastrophe showed necessity to discuss level of security in Kerch channel. In particular, Yushchenko said that it was necessary to discuss and set demands on security for ferrymen and security of cargo transportation.
Yushchenko considers that current bilateral agreements do not give answer that Kerch channel can be safe from ecology point of view, that’s why it is necessary to elaborate intergovernmental agreement to provide proper exploitation of Kerch channel.
