President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is going to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych on Friday morning in order to discuss measures, taken during liquidation of consequences of catastrophe in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The President said that today in Jerusalem.

According to the President, for today corresponding departments made not enough efforts to overcome consequences of catastrophe in Kerch channel.

“The accident showed that part of Ukrainian services were not ready to work under such complicated conditions and big areas, that’s why tomorrow I would held a meeting with Viktor Yanukovych,” Yushchenko said.

Yushchenko is not satisfied with actions and work of ecology and technical services on this problem.

“Damages are great. It is one of the biggest maritime catastrophes in this region. I am convinced that Prosecutor General’s Office must investigate this case, authorities must make conclusion and maritime departments and services must find out why rescuers services could not been involved with the full volume,” Yushchenko said.

As a reminder, on November 11 the heavy storm became a reason for accident in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov: about twenty ships were shipwrecked. As a result of catastrophe, about two thousand tons of black oil leaked in to the sea and about seven thousand tons of sulphur are underwater in sank ship.

Ukrainian and Russian brought before court cases on pollution of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov by oil and sulphur as a result of ship wrecks in storm.
