Criminal cases on pollution of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov by oil and sulphur as a result of ship wrecks in storm are brought before court. Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Tatyana Kornyakova said that today at the briefing in Kyiv.

According to her, Sevastopol PGO brought proceedings on violation of security of ships movement. The second case is brought by Kerch Prosecutor’s Office on the sea pollution.

Kornyakova noted that Russian Prosecutor’s Office also brought criminal cases on the same facts.

She expressed hope that on the basis of investigations, guilty persons would indemnify losses.
 
As a reminder, as a result of heavy storm on November 11 that contributed to shipswrecks of about twenty ships, about 1300 tons of oil were spilled into Kerch channel, 6800 tons of sulphur sank.
