President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko intends to initiate changes of proportional modal of elections to local authorities. He said that yesterday in scope of his visit to Poltava region. ForUm reports referring to president’s press office.
According to Yushchenko, “proportional election system, especially at level of local authorities, is unsuccessful parody of political election system.”
“When we speak about parties in villages, we understand that there are no parties. But elections are carried out on the basis of party. I will initiate changes to reconsider this system,” the President stressed.
As ForUm earlier reported, in the coalition agreement democratic forces offered to raise barrier for political parties by 5% to get to the parliament. Now the barrier makes 3%.
