President Viktor Yushchenko stated at a press conference in Poltava on Thursday that a constructive dialogue involving all parties was the key to defusing Georgia’s political crisis, President’s press office reports.
“I call on Georgia’s authorities to start a public and open dialogue, hold this dialogue with respect for the constitution and the people and make balanced decisions,” he said. “I am convinced the sole way is to act in an exclusively democratic manner.”
Yushchenko said only Georgians could decide how to settle the situation.
According to him, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has already made a corresponding statement concerning the events in Georgia, and besides the deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine was sent there.
