Today with flags and party symbols, under bass brand music in Ivano-Frankivsk representatives of power, city authorities and political parties come to monument to ZUNR heroes, where ceremony on occasion of 89-anniversary of Western Ukrainian People’s Republic took place. Veterans of Ukrainian Rebel Army and military students were standing guard in honour of the monument.
Ceremonial celebrations took place in all regional centers and cities of Transcarpathia (Prykarpattia).
On November 1, 1918 as a result of armed revolt of Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of Austrian-Hungarian monarchy the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic was proclaimed. The revolt was headed by sotnik of Ukrainian Sech Streltsy Dmytro Vitovsky. Almost five months today’s Ivano-Frankivsk was the capital of ZUNR.
