The second secretary of Embassy the Russian Federation in Ukraine Eduard Vertyanov considers that the Interstate Ukrainian-Russian commission (commission Yushchenko-Putin) is the mechanism for all problem questions’ solution between Russia and Ukraine. Vertyakov stated on Thursday during his speech within the framework of a round table “Political provocations in Russian-Ukrainian relation” in Kyiv.

“Nowadays the acting mechanism for solution of all questions, existing between Russia and Ukraine, has been already formed. I mean the bilateral interstate commission, which is headed by the presidents of our countries, and within this commission all problem questions are solved constructively enough,” he said.

According to him, the next sitting of the Yushchenko-Putin commission will be held in Moscow by the end of 2007.

Representative of the RF Embassy has emphasized that Ukraine is a strategic partner of Russia with which the Russian side “is ready to build mutually beneficial and pragmatic relations”.

Vertyakov has also noted the regularity of contacts at the level of heads of the government and the foreign ministers.

“The constructive normal dialog is being held. But I must note that there are quite many forces which are interested in relations between Russia and Ukraine to be not so harmonious and friendly, and they try to worsen them in every possible way,” Vertyakov considers.
