President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is sure that a court reform is necessary for effective work of the executive power. As ForUm’s correspondent reports, deputy head of the President’s Secretariat Ihor Pukshyn stated at a briefing on Tuesday.

“The President emphasized not once that the court reform is necessary. We must guarantee citizens not just the right to apply to court, but the right for fair court,” he said.

Pukshyn reminded that Yushchenko had given a task to complete draft bills on the court reform, first of all concerning judges’ status, selection of staff and their responsibility.

Deputy head of the Secretariat has noted that Yushchenko will insist upon draft bills on corruption resistance and responsibility for corruption violations to be adopted by the VRU in the first reading. And then a draft bill on anticorruption body must be formed, Pukshyn added,
