Products that contain more than 0.9% of genetically modified components will be marked from November 1. The Health Minister Mykhaylo Haydayev said that today after the cabinet session, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to Haydayev, today the draft bill on cancellation of resolution №985 from August 2007 on labeling products that contains 0.9% genetically modified components was submitted in the Cabinet.

Haydayev noted that proposition on cancellation of labeling was submitted by one of the countries within negotiation process on Ukraine’s accession to the WTO. The Cabinet did not make any changes in this resolution.

As a reminder Cabinet adopted a resolution that foresees labeling of genetically modified products. The resolution comes in to force from November 1, 2007. According to resolution, import, production and realization of products that contain more that 0.9% of genetically modified components are forbidden.
