From the beginning of 2008 obligatory conscription will be cancelled. BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko stated that at the press conference yesterday in Kyiv, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
Tymoshenko informed that those 18-year-old men who were taken to army this year will serve for one year. According to her, next year contract conscription will cost Ukraine approximately UAH 50 million.
Tymoshenko noted that people would be hired for guarding of military depots. It is wrong that 80% of the time soldiers stand guard over empty depots.
