Chairman of board of directors of “Gasprom” Dmitriy Medvedev does not exclude that in 2008 the company will hold negotiation on conclusion of direct agreement on gas supply to Ukraine.

“We are likely to reconsider relations with Ukraine and avoid current or any other mediatory structures in 2008. Maybe it will make our relations easier and will help us to make payments in time and not to have such debts as we have now,” Medvedev said in an interview to German TV company “ARD”.

In turn, official representative of "RosUkrEnergo" Andry Knutov stated that the company would keep working within concluded long-term agreements.

Medvedev noted that it would be good to find mutual understanding with Ukrainian side. He added that "Gasprom" was not an instrument of foreign policy as it did not hold selective policy towards different states. “For last two years we made everything possible to form pricing for CIS countries and other states on the basis of already existing system of formation of gas prices,” he said.

According to Medvedev, there must be one universal approach. Prices for gas are formed within international approved method. Medvedev noted that prices concern only condition of gas market but not policy.
