President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko considers the process of adoption of new Constitution of Ukraine as the social treaty and as the consensus document. Deputy Secretariat’s Head, President’s representative in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, President’s representative in the Central Election Committee, Maryna Stavniychuk has stated at today's briefing. According to Stavniychuk, new edition of the Constitution should be adopted upon approval and support of the main political forces and the society.
Stavniychuk has informed that according to the President, people should accept and adopt text of the Constitution at the All-Ukrainian referendum.
Stavniychuk has emphasized that different political forces share the President’s position concerning the objective necessity of reformation of the acting Constitution of Ukraine.
She also has said that according to Yushchenko, new principles of territorial organization of authority should be consolidated and reform of local self-government should be implemented.
