First vice Prime Minister of Russian government, chairman of the board of directors of “Gasprom” Dmitriy Medvedev stated that prices for gas for Ukraine would be fair and market.

Medvedev is convinced that question on prices for gas to Ukraine must not provoke political discussions. “It is only contractual, economic question,” he noted.

According to Medvedev, prices for gas will be determined in accordance with market mechanism of pricing. “We apply such mechanism to all our partners. Prices will be fair and correspond to market, he concluded.

Speaking about Ukraine’s debts to Russia, he said: “This issue will be solved after Russia gets money. Our partners must get used to pay for gas. To pay in time and in accordance with concluded agreements,” he stressed.

As a reminder, on October 2 “Gasprom” announced that it would reduce gas supply to Ukraine in case of debt outstanding (USD 1.3 milliard).

Ukrainian government disproved this information on debt, having stated that debt is not national and amount of debt is exaggerated.

Tomorrow Viktor Yanukovych in scope of his visit to Russian Federation plans to discuss this problem with his colleague Viktor Zubkov.
