British Foreign Secretary David Miliband welcomed the preliminary conclusions of the international mission for the observation of the September 30 parliamentary elections in Ukraine. "I welcome the international observers' preliminary conclusion that the elections were conducted mostly in line with international commitments and standards for democratic elections and confirm an open and competitive environment for the conduct of election process", it is said in Mr. Miliband's statement.
The British Foreign Secretary expressed hope that the winning parties will be able to form a new coalition government promptly and further consolidate the democratic process in Ukraine.
"We look forward to working with whatever government is formed, to further deepen Ukraine's relations with the UK and with the European Union," David Miliband emphasized, Cabinet’s press office reports.
