President Viktor Yushchenko has sent letters to Prosecutor General Oleksander Medvedko and Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, acting chief of the Security Service of Ukraine, to say he is worried Ukraine might lose its stake in the Kryvy Rig Ore Mining and Processing Plant. He demands that the Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office must investigatewhether the State Property Fund adhered to the country’s laws when implementing the government’s July 2, 2006 decree to make this plant a joint-stock company.

In the President's opinion, implementation of this instruction by the State Property Fond creates background for the state to loose its control over the object and possible violation of rights of foreign companies building the plant.
