President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko considers that only the People’s deputies’ political immunity must be retained and thinks this will help law enforcement bodies to restore order in Ukraine. Yushchenko said during the video conference in Lviv.
He has said that there will be no order in the State and there will be no fair law enforcement bodies, until the “450-member caste” will exist.
The President has reiterated his demand that Ukraine’s reelected parliament must repeal some of the most immoderate privileges enjoyed by its members. He has expressed confidence that this will make all state officials realize that they serve their nation.
Yushchenko said: “We must spare no effort to repeal legislative immunity, leaving only political immunity. This will normalize relations among law enforcement bodies and this will be a high honor to serve in such bodies to preserve law and order in the country.”
