President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko assures representatives of the European Union that European choice of Ukraine leaves no alternative. He said that today during opening the XI “Ukraine-EU” summit in Kyiv.
According to the President, both the EU and Ukraine are interested in concrete practical things. He proposed to concentrate on them in scope of the summit. President noted that there is a discussion of key aspects of development of Ukraine and the EU, future of bilateral relations and international problems on agenda of the summit.
The President reminded that summit “Ukraine-EU" took place in Kyiv ten years ago. According to him, for these years Ukraine and the EU had difficult but successful way to pass. “We have become closer and understandable,” he said.
According to Yushchenko, he and the whole people of Ukraine highly appreciate this way and every effort aimed at European integration: “We appreciate every effort that united us and formed our mutual perspective,” he said.
Yushchenko noted that cooperation of Ukraine and the EU is powerful engine for democratic, social and economic reforms in Ukraine. “I am convinced that our relations are source of achievements also for the EU. We are proud of common achievements,” he noted.
According to Yushchenko, today Ukraine and the EU are on the edger of changes and it is necessary to go ahead confidently not only as partners but also as responsible representatives of one European area.
