Presidential aides Olexander Chalyy and Maryna Stavniychuk on Wednesday met with PACE representatives led by Hanne Severinsen to speak about preparations for early parliamentary elections on September 30.

Chalyy said the campaign was “calm and peaceful,” thanking the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on behalf of the President for accepting his invitation to monitor Ukraine’s poll. He said Yushchenko wanted to hold the election in a democratic and transparent manner. “The President will spare no effort to ensure that the poll is fair and appreciates the role of PACE in this,” he said.

Severinsen thanked Chalyy and Stavniychuk for the meeting and said the PACE delegation had already met with representatives of the country’s major political forces, President’s press office reports.
