President Oleh Shevchenko of the State-run Aircraft Building Concern "Aviation of Ukraine" and President Aleksey Fedorov of the Russian United Aircraft Corporation have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the area of transport ramp aviation and passenger aerotechnics in Moscow.
The Memorandum has been signed within the framework of the International Air Space Showroom MAX-2007 in the presence of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and Deputy Premier Sergey Ivanov of Russia.
As Ukraine's Premier told a press conference, the instrument provides for particular steps for cooperation in different branches of aircraft industry, as well as deepening of cooperation ties between Russian and Ukrainian commodity producers, holding regular intergovernmental consultations on cooperation of defense sectors of both countries.
The Russian Leasing Company "Ilyushin Finance" and the State Transport Company of Russia have also signed a contract to supply Russia with 12 Ukrainian AN-148 airplanes under leasing. The airplanes were produced at the Voronezh Aircraft Plant (Russia).
According to Transport and Communications Minister Mykola Rudkovsky of Ukraine, the project will effectively promote Ukraine-designed planes to the Russian market, Cabinet’s press office reports.
