A fire erupted in Hola Prystan district, Kherson region on August 20 covering almost 200 ha of coniferous forests. At 3 pm on August 20, due to high temperatures and strong winds, the area embraced by the fire began to expand particularly fast. Kherson region's fire and rescue brigades of the Emergency Situations Ministry have been trying to localize and prevent the further spread of fire. They were later reinforced by the Ministry's Composite Pyrotechnic Regiment, fire brigades of Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa garrisons.

As of 7 am on August 21 the fire has covered 1,500 ha but has incurred no health loses and poses no threat to inhabited locations.

Emergency Situations Minister Nestor Shurfrych is working on the site of the incident.

200 ha of forestry in Tsiurupinsk district, Kherson region have also been affected by fire, which is being extinguished.

An extraordinary session of the Kherson region's council now underway is to allocate funds from the regional budget's reserve fund to eliminate the aftermath of the fires, Cabinet’s press office reports.
