President Viktor Yushchenko on Monday met with Andriy Stryzhak, head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, President’s press office reports.

Yushchenko demands the Constitutional Court to be politically neutral. They spoke about the ways of fair elections holding and what laws the Constitutional Court needs to adopt in order to make its performance more effective.

Yushchenko congratulated Stryzhak on being elected head of the Constitutional Court. The President insisted that the court must promote and guarantee the rule of law and pledged to preserve its high status.

Maryna Stavniychuk, Yushchenko’s deputy chief of staff and representative to the Central Election Commission and the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, was present at the meeting.
