Citizens of Ukrainian city Lviv counted all sculptural lions, which are in the city.
According to Yuriy Gayda, director of Lviv gallery “Ravlyk”, there were found out 2942 sculptures of lions, not including those, which are situated on the local cemetery, and those, which are used in interior decorations.
The biggest number of lion images was counted on building of the Lviv polytechnic university. It has 55 lion images.
City Lviv was founded by Prince Danylo Galytsky in Xll and received its name after his son Lev. City’s emblem, as well as the region’s emblem, is the image of lion.
