Orthodox Church marks Honey Spas

Today Orthodox Church marks Honey Spas and begins two-week Dormition Fast. Despite the Fast is short, it is quite strict, according to its regulations, all animal products, including fish are forbidden to eat.

This holiday combines three holidays: Merciful Spas and the Blessed Virgin, the Life-giving Cross of Lord the Savior and Epiphany of Kievan Rus.

People say: Honey Spas has come, tell the summer good-bye. People used to bring honey, seeds and firs vegetables to church for consecration. People also call this holiday Makovey (Poppy). This day People collect poppy.
