“Regions” to assign Symonenko to post of speaker?

Leader of the Communist party of Ukraine Petro Symonenko claims that representatives of the Party of Regions support him in his aspiration to head the Verkhovna Rada of the Vl convocation. He has stated at the press conference in Kyiv on Monday.

According to Symonenko, last week communists and “regions” during the coordination council “discussed tactics of our cooperation and discussed joint actions, which could take place soon”.

“Among many questions we, of course, discussed this problem too (aspiration of communists to take the post of parliament’s speaker), and representatives of Party of Regions understood that,” leader of the CPU said.

According to Symonenko, his own experience “as the leader of one of the strongest regions of Ukraine, and 13 years experience of work in the VRU give me the reasons to speak that I will manage this post (Chairman of the VRU)”.
