Iryna Vannykova, President Viktor Yushchenko’s press secretary, said on Friday that President supported demands by the National Union of Journalists to ban all media inspections during Ukraine’s election campaign, president's press office reported.

Vannykova said newspapers, magazines and television channels had often been used in Ukraine for manipulations, describing press freedom as “enemy number one for the government.” She added that elections had always been very challenging and exhausting for journalists because of this.
